My 14-year-old son’s friend said to me one day, “When I grow up I want to have a job that doesn’t feel like work… I want a job that feels like fun and I want to get paid for doing it! I want to enjoy my time at work and be able to come home happy and stress free”. 

This young generation is watching us, and what do they see?

Adults complaining about their job, about having a lot of work to do and being stressed all the time, adults that forgot about their dreams, the dreams of doing something they love and have people paying for it. 

If we look closer, when we don’t love our job or the work we do, we get easily stressed…

Because we get easily stressed, we are perceived as a difficult team member or a difficult employee…

Being perceived as a difficult team member or employee, we don’t get good performance reviews or a raise in salary…

Because we don’t get good performance reviews or a raise in salary, we complain about our boss and everyone around us…

Complaining about our boss and everyone around us, makes us lose our focus on how we can change things, do better or do differently, in other words, we don’t take responsibility in designing our ideal professional life…

Because we don’t take responsibility in designing our ideal professional life, we don’t make the effort to change our own world…

Not making the effort to change our own world, makes us miss opportunities of finding or creating the job we love…

Bottom line: We are, ultimately, the ones responsible for our lives. If we don’t like the way our life is going, we must act to change it. No one else will do it for us.
